The Whitby Chamber of Commerce (WCC) is seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to champion business growth, foster meaningful partnerships, and ensure our Chamber thrives as the voice of Whitby’s vibrant business community.

As CEO, you will serve as the face of the Chamber, guiding its strategic vision, ensuring financial stability, and delivering exceptional value to our members. This is an opportunity to lead one of the most influential organizations in the Durham Region, connecting businesses, advocating for growth, and shaping the future of Whitby’s economy.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Governance
•Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the Chamber.
•Report directly to the Board of Directors, executing strategic initiatives and policies.
•Lead a dedicated team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance work environment.
2. Strategic Planning & Advocacy
•Develop and execute programs and events that align with the Chamber’s mission and strategic growth targets.
•Represent the Chamber in advocacy efforts with government officials, business leaders, and stakeholders.
•Collaborate with other Chambers at the regional and provincial levels to address business challenges.
3. Financial Stewardship
•Oversee the Chamber’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
•Ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain the organization’s financial integrity.
•Identify opportunities to diversify revenue streams through events, sponsorships, and non-dues sources.
4. Member Engagement & Community Relations
•Build strong relationships with Chamber members, sponsors, and community partners.
•Increase membership growth and retention by delivering value-driven programs and services.
•Actively engage with the community to position WCC as the premier business network in Whitby.
5. Communications & Public Relations
•Represent the Chamber at events, meetings, and in the media as its primary spokesperson.
•Develop effective marketing and social media strategies to enhance the Chamber’s brand.
•Ensure timely and transparent communication with members, stakeholders, and the Board.

Key Qualifications
•A post-secondary degree/diploma in business, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•5–10 years of experience in leadership, preferably in a membership-based organization or similar role.
•Demonstrated success in budget management, team development, and strategic planning.
•Exceptional relationship-building skills with members, stakeholders, and government representatives.
•Strong communication and public speaking skills with proficiency in modern marketing strategies, including social media.
