Peter Perry & Business Achievement Award Winners Unveiled

Fred Martin named 68th Peter Perry Award winner at annual Whitby Chamber of Commerce (WCC) event.

WHITBY, Ont., November 10, 2023 – Mayor Liz Roy announced the 2023 Peter Perry Award recipient,  Fred Martin who for over 35 years went above and beyond to bring joy to people of all ages and strengthen Whitby’s sense of community. Mayor Roy “Over the years, children sometimes thought our winner was a pirate when they spotted them in the community – probably because of the old-fashioned, tricornered hat and military coat that our Peter Perry winner often wore. But of course, we know that they carried a bell – not a sword.” Fred Martin was joined by his family at the event and rang the Town Criers bell one more time.”

In addition to awarding this prestigious honour, the WCC had the privilege to celebrate excellence through the Business Achievement Awards. This year, businesses were awarded in six categories.
